The Allentown School Board named its new elementary school after Brig. Gen. Anna Mae Hays, a district graduate who was the first female general in the Army. Two months ago, community members asked the decision to reconsider the name, saying that as a white woman, Hays is not representative of Allentown's mostly Hispanic and Black student body.
